Saukarya Samad
Editor
Saukarya Samad is a Doctoral Candidate in History at the University of Delhi. He completed his postgraduation in Modern History from the same department and received his BA (Honours) from Presidency University, Kolkata. He worked as a Guest Faculty at the Department of History, Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Kolkata. Saukarya has been associated with Simon Fraser University, Canada, Presidency University, Kolkata and the Seagull Foundation for the Arts as a research assistant on multiple projects. His area of inquiry revolves around the study of counter-archives to reconstruct the histories of marginalities and subaltern insurgencies in Colonial and Post-Colonial Bengal. He is a member of international scholastic bodies such as the Royal Historical Society, British Association for South-Asian Studies, and the Indian History Congress, and wishes to pursue a career in teaching.

Abhilash Chetia Wanniang

Abhilash Chetia Wanniang is a Doctoral researcher at the Department of History, University of Delhi, where he also earned his MA in Modern Indian History. A recipient of the UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), his research explores the intersections of borders, law, and empire, with a focus on colonial North-east India. Abhilash completed his undergraduate studies at Hansraj College. Beyond academia, he has worked on multiple projects with culture and heritage organisations, including Culture, National Virtual Library of India, and India Lost and Found. As a researcher, he was instrumental in establishing The Constitution Museum & The Rights and Freedoms Academy at O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat.

Anik Biswas

Anik Biswas is a doctoral candidate in Development Studies at the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata (University of Calcutta) and a recipient of the ICSSR Full-time Doctoral Fellowship. He completed his BA and MA in History from Presidency University, Kolkata. His doctoral research examines the interplay between football, identity, and political economy in post-colonial Bengal, with particular attention to historically marginalised groups such as lower-caste communities, women, tribal populations, and immigrant African players whose narratives remain underexplored in dominant accounts of the game. Methodologically, his work combines historical inquiry with ethnography and digital methods, including netnography, to analyse sport as a site of cultural production, livelihood, and social negotiation. His broader research interests include sports history, urban history, digital cultures, and contemporary South Asia. Recently, he received the ICSSR International Collaboration Grant and presented his research at the European Conference on South Asian Studies (ECSAS) in Heidelberg, Germany.

Anamitra Ghosh

Anamitra Ghosh is a Doctoral Candidate at the Department of History, South Asia Institute, University of Heidelberg, Germany. He is a part of the DFG Project, “A Sonic Approach to Anti-Colonialism in India.” He is a visiting student at the Faculty of History, University of Cambridge in 2026. He holds an MA and BA in History from Presidency University, Kolkata, India. He is currently working on his doctoral project on the role of radio broadcasting in shaping anti-colonial mobilisation in late-colonial Bengal. His research interests include sound studies, histories of technology, and modern South Asia.

Akshaya Sivakumar

Akshaya is a doctoral candidate at the Department of History, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Her research entails gender, empire, and colonial encounters, with her doctoral work focusing on Englishwomen in Colonial India. She has acted as the former President of the History Students’ Association at the Department of History at MSU. She has previously taught undergraduate and postgraduate students as a Guest Lecturer and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Her research interests include social and cultural history, women’s studies, gender and empire, and colonial and postcolonial histories of South Asia. She is a recipient of the SHODH Fellowship awarded by the Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, and a MA level Gold Medalist in History. She is also an active member of the Indian History Congress, where she has presented her research. Her latest publication in Urdhva Mula: An Interdisciplinary Women’s Studies Journal, focuses on women’s rights and gender justice in postcolonial India. Her broader academic interests encompass gendered cross-cultural encounters in the colonial world.

Noyonika Bhattacharya

Noyonika Bhattacharya is a doctoral scholar at the Department of History, University of Delhi. She secured the highest marks in MA (Final) at Lady Shri Ram College for Women. A Junior Research Fellow, her research interests comprise environmental history, popular culture, gender, caste, and the state. Her paper on Marichjhapi has been published in an edited volume on Post-Independence Bengal. She presented her paper on post-colonial state-sanctioned violence at the Delhi History Congress, 2025. Her article on gender, memory, and state violence has been published as a book chapter in 'Cultural Memory in Translation'. Her work on aesthetic representations of climate change has been accepted for publication in a forthcoming Springer volume. She is tracing a social history of climate change and migration in Sundarbans, West Bengal.

Geetika Rathore

Geetika Rathore is a doctoral scholar in the Department of History at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where she also earned her Master’s degree in Modern Indian History. Her current research examines colonial and post-colonial gender narratives within Indian healthcare traditions, alongside her broader interests in Modern Indian History and Women’s Studies. She has presented papers at national academic forums, including the Indian History Congress, and has published in the Journal of People’s History and Culture by the Garia Society for Studies of Marginal People, reflecting her focus on the social dimensions of Indian history. A Shodh Scholarship awardee and NET and GSET qualified scholar. Beyond the academic sphere, she has contributed to initiatives such as Gramiksha and the National Service Scheme, underscoring her commitment towards community oriented work.

Aryan Khare

Aryan Khare holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Delhi and a Master’s degree in Modern History from the University of Delhi. He works across the fields of heritage management, museums, archives, and cultural research through his consultancy, LegacyLabs Heritage Management LLP, where he consults on museum and archival projects.
His academic and professional interests lie in legal history, the evolution of law and institutions, and the ways history is interpreted and circulated through popular culture.

Safa P

Safa P. is a Muslim, female, early-career researcher from southwest India. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Modern Indian Studies with a specialisation in the Anthropology of Power at CeMIS, University of Göttingen. She also holds a Master's degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Previously, Safa worked at the Gender Data Center under the Gender Park, an initiative of the Kerala government's Ministry of Social Justice, in collaboration with UN Women. During this time, she contributed to a year-long research project exploring the layered subjectivity of Mappila Muslim women within the anticolonial history of the Malabar coast. Her current research focuses on Muslim political subjectivity in South Asia, with a particular focus on gender. She is writing her Master's thesis on this topic under the supervision of Dr. Patrick Eisenlohr. Alongside her academic work, Safa is employed as a Research Assistant at the Equal Opportunity Office at the University of Göttingen.
